Introducing Bijou X jewelry. By: designer Denise Weiss
Bijou, that's french for a small delicatley worked piece of adornment, just the name
of her company makes you want to smile. Every piece of Bijou X is designed
by Denise and is one of kind. She uses a six step process to hand restore vintage
tooled brass stampings. All of her pieces are from vintage findings and are hung from
delicate silver,14k gold, or solid brass chains and sometime accented with semi precious
stones. Every piece is something you'll be sure to fall in love with.
After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in Theatre Design, Denise pursued a career as a rock singer/songwriter, performing in the New York and Philadelphia area with her band, Denny and the Dropouts. She had the honor of working with Andy Wallace, who worked on Nirvana's 'In Utero' and Wally Gold, who wrote, "It's My Party" for Leslie Gore.
A few years ago, while researching the history of costume jewelry, she was fascinated by the stampings and filigree components typical of American tool and die houses in the 19th and 20th centuries.
After discovering that many of these companies have ceased production, Denise decided, as a designer, to support these beautiful resources by utilizing their unique and increasingly rare designs in her work that she shows at craft shows in and around Philadelphia.
